Oleksandr Kuzub was born on August 26, 1959, in Poltava region. In 1981 he graduated from the Kyiv State University, and in 1986 he defended his PhD dissertation and received the degree in physics and mathematics.
In 1990, he started to work in the private sector, mastering the accounting profession. In 1993, after the introduction of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Audit Activities’, it became possible to do independent audits. In January 1994, Oleksandr received the auditor’s certificate (series A number 000157), and in May 1994, together with like-minded people, founded the ‘Audit-consulting firm “Audit-ASK” LLC.’ Since then, Oleksandr has been the director of this audit firm.
In 1996, Oleksandr received a second degree (in Accounting and Auditing), graduating from the National Academy of Management. Oleksandr Kuzub uses every opportunity to study and acquire new professional skills. It allowed him to successfully complete the Teacher Training Program within the project "Accounting and Auditing Reform in Ukraine", which was organised and conducted in fall 2001 by IBTCI and the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The best graduates of the program were selected for the participation in the program "Strategic Technical Support for Teachers (START)" at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS, Edinburgh) in April-May 2002.
Since his internship in Scotland, Oleksandr Kuzub worked part-time at the STATUS Information, Analytical and Methodological Audit Centre of the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine. He organised and conducted training for auditors on certification and continuous improvement of professional knowledge.
In December 2004, Oleksandr received the ACCA Diploma in International Financial Reporting, certified by the ATC International. In October 2009 and February 2010 Oleksandr participated in the training program "Investment Assessment and Risk Analysis" held by Cambridge Resources International Inc. with the World Bank support.
Oleksandr Kuzub also made a significant contribution to the establishment and development of quality control systems for audit services at audit firms in Ukraine. He was one of the first developers of the regulatory framework for conducting external audits of quality control systems by the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine. From December 2007 to March 2009, Oleksandr Kuzub headed the Audit Control Committee of the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine and started the implementation of such external audits in practice.
Along with professional activities, Oleksandr Kuzub actively participates in the public life of auditors. From 1996 to 2012, he was a Board member of the Kyiv Territorial Office of the Union of Auditors of Ukraine, and from 2003 to 2013 he was a member of its Council. From July 2013 to present, he is president of the Institute of Certified Accounting and Auditing Professionals (ICAAP).
From March 2012 to September 2018, Oleksandr Kuzub was a member of the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine by the quota of the professional community. At the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine, he headed the Commission on Standards and Practice of Auditing and was a member of the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine commissions on Certification and on Quality Control and Professional Ethics.
In 2017–2018 Oleksandr Kuzub held the position of the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Auditors of Ukraine (the Ukrainian regulator of the audit profession).
For his professional and public work Alexander Kuzub was awarded the Diplomas of the Kyiv Mayor for significant contribution to the development of auditing (November 2002), the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine for the significant contribution to accounting in Ukraine (July 2004) and the Honorary Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (August 2007).
